Porcelain veneers in Birmingham

Veneers are one of the most effective ways to achieve a flawless, unblemished smile. Whether you’ve chipped a tooth, want to improve stained or discoloured teeth, or correct mild misalignment, veneers offer an allinone solution that can truly transform your appearance.

At Hilltop Dental in Birmingham, we provide longlasting, naturallooking veneers designed for comfort and precision. Our cosmetic dentistry experts ensure every patient receives a smile that looks beautiful and feels completely natural.

Chipped, cracked or discoloured teeth can affect your self-confidence. You might find yourself hiding your smile or avoiding social occasions because of the appearance of your teeth. Dental veneers provide a long-term, durable and natural-looking solution.

Unlike generic bonding, porcelain veneers are custom-crafted to replicate the translucency and strength of natural enamel. This long-term investment helps preserve your natural tooth structure while delivering a flawless result that can last between 10–15 years with proper care.

At Hilltop Dental, we combine artistry with advanced clinical expertise. Our bespoke veneers are meticulously handcrafted by expert technicians to ensure a perfect fit and finish. We also offer a unique “trial smile” with temporary veneers, allowing you to experience your new smile and refine your new look before your permanent restorations are ever fitted.

If you’re ready to restore your smile with confidence, we’re here to help.

What are veneers?

Veneers are thin shells custom-created from porcelain. They are applied to cover the front surface of your teeth, enhancing their appearance by improving the shape, size, and colour. A dental veneer serves as a cosmetic cover, helping to transform your smile while protecting your natural teeth.

Porcelain veneers are crafted from high-quality ceramic materials that replicate the natural translucency and light-reflecting properties of tooth enamel. They are durable and resistant to stains, making them the preferred long-term option for many patients.

Porcelain veneers vs composite bonding

Composite bonding uses a tooth-coloured resin, similar to the material used in fillings, which is carefully applied and sculpted directly onto the tooth surface to improve shape, size, or appearance. This treatment is an affordable solution to improve the look of individual or multiple teeth and can often be completed in a single appointment; the treatment is also reversible. However, composite resin is not as strong or as stain-resistant as porcelain veneers.

Our experienced cosmetic dentists will help you decide which veneer type suits you best, helping you make an informed choice for a beautiful white smile.

Veneers vs crowns

Veneers are generally less invasive than crowns, as they require less removal of tooth structure. In most cases, only a thin layer of enamel is removed from the front surface of the tooth to allow the veneer to fit properly and look natural.

In contrast, dental crowns cover the entire tooth and are typically used when the underlying structure is damaged or weakened, for example, after a very large filling.

What issues can veneers fix?

Veneers can improve the appearance of your teeth. They are especially useful for fixing the following issues:

  • Discoloured teeth that do not respond to whitening treatments
  • Chipped or broken teeth or crooked teeth
  • Small gaps between teeth
  • Mildly misaligned or uneven teeth
  • Irregular tooth shapes

Once veneers are placed and bonded, they look and feel just like natural teeth while maintaining the protection and strength of your original enamel.

The veneer process at Hilltop Dental

All our porcelain veneers are handcrafted by highly skilled technicians and are completely unique for your smile. We use the latest digital techniques to ensure your veneers are placed precisely.

1.Consultation

At our clinic in Birmingham, your journey will begin with a full dental examination and a discussion about your treatment goals. Our expert cosmetic dentist will examine your teeth, gums and bite, and may use digital imaging or mock-ups to show you the potential results.

2. Preparation of your teeth

Digital scans or impressions of your teeth are taken for your custom veneers. If you choose to go ahead with, a very thin layer of enamel, less than one millimetre, is removed from the surface of the teeth. For your comfort, this is done under sedation.

3. Veneer bonding

Around 2 weeks later, you can come and see us to have your veneers fitted. Your dentist will check the shape, colour, and fit before bonding your veneers to your teeth with a strong dental adhesive. They will then be hardened using a special curing light.

4. Aftercare

Like your natural teeth, veneers do need some aftercare so they can last a long time. With good oral hygiene, your veneers will retain their brightness and durability for up to 15 years.

If you choose veneers with us, we recommend that you:

  • Brush twice daily and floss gently
  • Avoid biting hard objects (for example, pens)
  • Schedule regular dental check-ups and hygiene appointments
  • Wear a mouthguard if you grind your teeth at night
  • Avoid smoking or consuming fizzy, sugary drinks

FAQs

Do veneers need aftercare?

Maintaining veneers is simple and similar to caring for your natural teeth. With proper oral hygiene, they can last for many years while retaining their brightness and durability.

  • Brush twice daily and floss gently
  • Avoid biting hard foods or objects
  • Schedule regular dental checkups and cleanings
  • Wear a mouthguard if you grind your teeth at night
How long do veneers last?

Porcelain veneers typically last 10–15 years. Their longevity depends on oral hygiene, bite forces and lifestyle factors, such as smoking or grinding your teeth.

Is the veneer procedure painful?

Most patients feel minimal discomfort. Porcelain veneers usually require a small amount of enamel preparation, so local anaesthetic is often used. Any post-treatment sensitivity is usually temporary; however, if you experience any discomfort please don’t hesitate to come back and see us.

Are veneers resistant to staining and damage?

Yes – porcelain veneers are highly resistant to staining and are stronger than composite resin.

Are veneers permanent?

Yes – as a small layer of enamel is removed for veneers, the procedure is permanent. However, composite bonding, which we also offer, is a non-permanent alternative.

How much does it cost?

Our porcelain veneers start from £649 per tooth. You can see a full list of our prices here.
